Environment and Solid Waste

In Huillca Expedition, we believe in the importance of being an environmentally responsible company and doing our part to protect the planet. We strive to be a company that cares for the environment and takes measures to reduce our ecological footprint.

One of the main focuses of our company is reducing the use of plastic bags. We know that plastic bags are one of the major pollutants of the environment and can take hundreds of years to decompose. Therefore, we encourage our clients to bring their own reusable bags and avoid providing unnecessary plastic bags. Additionally, whenever possible, we use recyclable packaging and materials to reduce the amount of waste we generate.

Another important aspect for us is constant cleaning of our campsites. We know that even the smallest amount of garbage in nature can have a big impact on the environment and wildlife. Therefore, we make sure that our campsites are always clean and free of garbage, and that all waste is properly disposed of.

In addition, we work in collaboration with local and national organizations to support environmental conservation projects and programs. We believe in the importance of protecting nature and doing our part to ensure that future generations can enjoy the beauty of the planet.

Recycling campaign

At Huillca Expedition, we not only focus on reducing the use of plastic bags and cleaning our campsites, but we also carry out recycling campaigns on the routes we operate, in nearby lagoons and rivers. We believe it is our responsibility to protect the environment and conserve the natural beauty of the places we visit.

During our expeditions, our guides and support team always carry bags and containers to collect waste and recyclable materials. We ensure that everything we collect is properly disposed of and sent to the appropriate recycling facilities.

We also educate our clients about the importance of recycling and encourage them to join our recycling campaigns during the trip. We believe that every small action counts, and together we can make a big difference in protecting the environment.

We are committed to reducing our ecological footprint and carrying out responsible environmental practices. Our recycling campaigns are just one part of our efforts to protect and conserve the places we visit.

Solid waste management

At Huillca Expedition, we are committed to the conservation of the environment and the protection of the natural areas where we operate. As part of our environmental initiatives, we have implemented a rigorous solid waste management system in all our expeditions and routes.

Since the beginning of our operations, we have been aware of the negative impacts that solid waste can have on the environment and local communities. For this reason, we have established a "zero waste" policy on our expeditions, which means that everything we bring to the mountain, we also bring back.

To ensure proper management of solid waste, our guides and support team carry specially designed garbage bags for the separation of organic and inorganic waste. Organic waste, such as food scraps and toilet paper, is buried in special holes that are filled in later to prevent soil and water contamination.

On the other hand, inorganic waste such as plastic bottles, cans, wrappers, and others, are collected and brought back to our offices where they are sorted and recycling campaigns are carried out. In these campaigns, we collaborate with local communities and authorities to promote the culture of recycling and proper management of solid waste in natural areas.
