In the Sacred Valley or Urubamba Valley there are so many archaeological sites from the time of the Incas that one day is not enough to see the highlights of the valley. However, we have created a special route that groups most of these important Inca sites. The tours starts at 7:00 am from your hotel in Cusco, to head towards the town of Chinchero, a colonial town with its charming 17th century Catholic church and many Inca remains, will be our first place to visit, then the salt ponds of Maras, which was the main source of salt to provide Cusco and other settlements in Urubamba Valley like Machu Picchu, today this place is still used by the locals, where the locals cultivate salt by hand as the Incas did centuries ago. Our next place to visit is Moray, a unique Inca cultivation testing center, where the Incas built terraces in a rounded shape especially to generate many microclimates because of this, today, Peru has more than 3000 types of potatoes. Our last place to explore is the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo, another impressive site for its temple of the sun, whose granite rocks were brought from 5 miles away. The journey continues by train from Ollantaytambo station at 15.30 hours and continues to Machu Picchu Pueblo arriving at 17.00 hours.
