How to get to Tinke from Cusco

If you're planning to travel to Ausangate or other places like the Pacchanta Hot Springs, you have the option to reach the town of Tinke, which is the starting point for various tourist attractions such as Ausangate, the 7 Lakes of Ausangate, the Pacchanta Hot Springs, and the Señor de Qoylloriti.

The only way to get to Tinke is by land, covering a distance of 114 km from the city of Cusco, at an altitude of 3,777 meters above sea level.

Traveling to Tinke by bus

There are public buses departing from Cusco to the town of Tinke, and the journey lasts 3 hours and 30 minutes. Departures are daily, every 30 minutes, starting at 4:00 a.m., with the last bus leaving at 6:30 p.m. The ticket price is S/. 12.00 per passenger.

From Tinke, there are cars and motorbike services available to reach the different attractions. Here are some of the prices:

  • Pacchanta: the cost for a car is S/. 35.00 for an express service, and the motorbike service is S/. 18.00 per person, dropping you off at the hot springs. Remember that there is an entrance fee to Ausangate of S/. 20.00, which also gives you access to visit the 7 Lakes of Ausangate. There is also an additional fee of S/. 5.00 per person.

Traveling to Tinke on your own

If you’re interested in traveling to Tinke in your own vehicle, it's also possible, as there is a paved road, and it’s the only one. Remember that after passing about 2 km beyond Urcos, you should turn right towards Puerto Maldonado. The journey takes 3 hours if direct, but you can also visit other places along the way, such as Pikillacta, Andahuaylillas, the Turquoise Waters of Urcos, and Ccatca. With your own vehicle, you have the flexibility to visit any place you wish.
